"Jackson James Bailey was born on Oct. 1, 1924, to parents Dagmar and James Bailey in Rio Vista, Calif. He passed onto another life on July 15, 2011. He died peacefully with his family by his side.

Jackson attended Rio Vista High School and was senior class president, graduating in 1942. He attended the University of the Pacific for a short period prior to joining the U.S. Navy. His service was stateside during World War II as a gunnery instructor. Once out of the service he began a career with Pacific Gas and Electric Company in Rio Vista, Calif., as a lineman and then a trouble man in 1946. In 1959 he moved to Placerville, Calif., and took a position as the District Marketing Representative with PG&E. He would spend the rest of his life in Placerville.

Jackson married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane Asher, in 1963. Jackson and Mary Jane raised five children. Jackson retired from PG&E in 1986 after 40 years of employment. During his lifetime he would belong to and participate in many service and social clubs such as the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 26 (50 years), Scottish Rite Bodies of Sacramento, Ben Ali Shriners Temple (Past Master), Order of Eastern Star Suisun Chapter, Royal Arch Masons of California Suisun Chapter 43, Kiwanis Club of Placerville (Past President and Lieutenant Governor California/Nevada/Hawaii), Cold Springs Golf and Country Club (Past President), Hangtown Little League, two terms on the Placerville City Council (Mayor 1990-1992), Chairman City of Placerville Planning Commission, Representative on Sacramento Regional Area Planning Commission, OEO Council for El Dorado County and the Civil Defense Counsel El Dorado County.

Jackson was charming, charismatic, good natured and had a sense of flair. He was loved by many but known by most all who would roam the streets of Placerville during the 1970s and 1980s. He was known for his very bright, colorful and outrageous attire. It was said that people who worked downtown Placerville couldn't wait to see what he would be wearing to work each day. He knew and interacted with a lot of people and he usually made an everlasting impression on them. We will miss him dearly.

Jackson is survived by his just-as-impressive wife, Mary Jane Bailey; children, Dan Musick, Nancy Musick, Gay Musick, James Bailey and Chris Bailey; grandchildren, Lindsay (Olsen) Dawson, Ryan Olsen, Melanie (Musick) Zumwalt, Katie (Musick) Morton, Amanda (Nevel) Foster, Krista Altermatt and Jason Musick; seven great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.

Services will be held Saturday, July 30, at 1 p.m., at Chapel of the Pines, 2855 Cold Springs Road in Placerville, Calif. The family requests that donations be made to Shriners Children's Hospital of Sacramento in Jackson's memory."
