Millie Pearl Drewery, 90, of 114 Sellers St., Martinsville, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at Blue Ridge Rehab Center.

She was born July 9, 1915, in Martinsville, to William "Doc" Carter and Roxie Harris Carter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Wilbur C. Drewery Jr.; six sisters, Annie R. Stewart, Mary L. Carter, Lessie B. Pritchett, Coretta C. Hairston, Elizabeth C. Draper and Margaret C. Tinsley; three brothers, Jessie J. Carter, Arthur Carter, William "Bill" Carter; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Drewery was retired from Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and attended Fayette Street Christian Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Peggy D. Friend of Richmond, and Frances D. Hairston and Brenda D. Hairston, both of Martinsville; two sons, Malcolm P. Drewery Sr. of Oxon Hill, Md. and Farrell V. Drewery of Martinsville; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held noon Monday at Fayette Street Christian Church with the Rev. Alfred Booker Sr. officiating. Burial will be in A & H Cemetery.

Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service and other times at the home of Mary and Van Drewery, 555 Carver Road.
