Karen Elaine Becker was born on October 24, 1951 in Sibley, Iowa, the daughter of Harm and Amanda (De Buhr) Becker. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bethel Reformed Church in Ellsworth, Minnesota.

In her youth, Karen attended Little Rock and Rock Rapids eventually graduating from Central Lyon High School in Rock Rapids in 1969. She continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa and Iowa Central Community College.

On December 4, 1970, Karen was united in marriage to Airlin W. DeVos at the Bethel Reformed Church in Ellsworth, Minnesota. To this union, three children were born: Aaron Scott, Carissa Beth, and Bridget Joy.

Throughout her life, Karen worked as a Sales Clerk before retiring in January of 2016.

In her free time, Karen enjoyed traveling, going dancing with Steve, catching concerts/plays, gardening, and playing hymns on the piano. She also loved sitting by the lake or taking a stroll. Family was very important to Karen and she often traveled to watch her grandchildren’s activities. Karen was the best at coming up with fun family games at Christmas time and the grandchildren would look forward to them and talk about them for weeks after. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Aaron (Joni) DeVos of Cherokee, Iowa; Carissa DeVos Lee of Ankeny, Iowa; Bridget (Cory) DeVos Vaudt of Ankeny, Iowa; special friend, Steve Musfeldt of Storm Lake, Iowa; brothers: Harlyn Becker of Doon, Iowa; Arlyn Becker of Rock Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren: Breeana DeVos, Max DeVos; Nicole and Gerrit DeVos of Cherokee, Iowa; Carter and Paige Lee of Ankeny, Iowa; and Ellie, Abigail, and Benjamin Vaudt of Ankeny, Iowa.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Harm and Amanda (De Buhr) Becker; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
