A native of McDowell County, Missy was born on June 2, 1967 to the late John and Fannie Mae Chapman Lowery.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by a niece, Amanda Lowery.
Missy loved going to church and loved her church family. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church where she served as church secretary. She was formally employed at Coats American. She enjoyed getting out and walking or riding on the parkway. Missy was known for always doing for others.
Left behind to cherish Missy's memories are her husband of thirty-five years, Keith Godfrey; three brothers, Eugene Lowery, James Lowery (Denita) and Brian Lowery; and one sister, Debra Fender (fiancé Roger Sigmon). Also surviving Missy are nieces who were very special to her, Kelly Lowery, Leslie Ray, Sally Davis, Hannah Lowery and Savannah Lowery and nephews, Brian Lowery, Jr. and Brock Lowery and her church kids.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Landmark Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Reverends Chris Clayton, Sr. and Tim Sigmon officiating. Interment will follow the service at Biddix Cemetery.
