George Washington Dutton was born in Alabama. His father was Alexander Thomas Dutton and his mother was Rachel Feazel. He married Mary Ann "Polly" Moore on January 2, 1845. He enlisted as a member of the Confederate Army and was eventually stationed in Shreveport, Louisiana. Sadly, he contracted dysentery and died at the C.S.A military hospital there at Shreveport on October 30, 1864.
For over 30 years, many have tried to locate the grave site of George Washington Dutton, to no avail. Recently, as of June of 2018, letters dated from 1994, coming from a, "Jeffrey McFarland" stating details about the admittance and death of G.W. Dutton. He also states that it was customary for those who died in C.S.A. hospital to be buried in a low-lying ravine area on the north side of the cemetery.
