I met Mr. Lewis through his lovely daughter Michelle. Although, we didn't instantly click, we eventually became dear friends and I have grown to know and love her family. At any rate, Mr. Lewis will definitely be missed. His love didn't just stop at family. He also loved the family's friends. That's basically what I wanted to share. He was such a kindhearted fellow. It would always do my heart good to know I meant something to him. How do I know? Well, he asked about me all the time-that's what my friend, Michelle, would tell me-"Daddy asked about you." It was always a message being relayed and I would send my greeting back via Michelle. I have enjoyed his kind hospitality at cookouts, fish fries and card parties. He was always down to have a conversation about something and just generally made me feel good about being a family friend and a striving man with a plan. I appreciate Mr. Lewis for being a father to my friend and her sister and brother. I appreciate Mr. Lewis for caring enough about me to send a hello; the catalyst of many of my smiles. I appreciate Mr. Lewis for being a North Memphian. Though the sun may have set for him in this life, may the joy he has shared, cultivated and embodied continue to live and grow in us all as we each march towards life's final journey. Rest in Peace, Mr. Eddie Lewis, Jr.
