Tom Colbert Funeral Rites Held January 4

WEEPING WATER (Special)

Services, were held at the Methodist church, Weeping Water, Tuesday, January 4 for Thomas E. Colbert who died January 2 after a lingering illness. The Rev. Fred C. Gardner of ficiated at the services and Mrs. Neil Fitzpatrick sang ''My Jesus As Thou Wilt" and "Good Night and Good Morning," accompanied by Miss Maude Moulton, organist. Pallbearers were Glen Hene ger, Howard Colbert, Lloyd Colbert, Elwin Jones, Arnold Jonie and Ralph Colbert. Burial was at Oakwood cemetery with the Hobson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Elmer Colbert was born August 29, 1875 at Wabash, Nebr. He was one of ten children of James and Jane Colbert. He departed this life on January 2. 1955 at his home in Weeping Water, having attained the age of 79 years 4 months and 3 days. December 21, 1904, he was united in marriage to Francis Bosworth at her parents home two miles north of 'Weeping Water.

To this union two children were born.

Tom spent his entire life in the Wabash community where he was engaged in farming. In 1934 he retired from the farm and moved to the present home m Weeping Water. He was a member of the Me thodist church.

Tom was preceded in death bv his parents; one sister, Mrs. Alvira Richards; four brothers, Willie, Wesley, John and George.


Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Frances; one daughter, Mrs. James Kivett of Weeping Water; one son, Elmer of Falls City; one sister, Mrs. Lueta Pool of Weeping Water, three broth ers, Frank and Perry of Lincoln and Eugene of Weeping Water; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host, of other relatives and friends.
