OBITUARY:

HOLD SERVICE MONDAY
FOR MISS L. MORRISON
-----------
It was with a deep feeling of tenderness, that word
was received, in Coleridge, of the release from lasting
pain, in the passing of Miss Lula Morrison, who had
been so great a sufferer from an incurable malady
which she had borne with fortitude and patient endur-
ance.
Anna Lucinda Morrison was born on Jan. 29, 1872,
at Hopkinton, in Delaware county, Ia., and passed away
on Sunday morning, Mar. 13, 1938, at the Wayne Hos-
pital at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 14 days.
She was one of the family of 13 children of the late
James Morrison and Nancy Conser Morrison. The
Morrison family moved from Iowa to Nebraska in 1880,
and settled in the little town of Norris, three miles east of
Coleridge, where the family was reared.
In early youth, Lula fitted herself for school-teaching
and taught for many years in the rural schools of Cedar
county. She attended Wayne Teachers College, being a
member of the class of its opening year. Miss Morrison
moved into Coleridge in 1909. and maintained a millinery
store for over 20 years.
She is survived by two sisters and three brothers; Mrs.
Maggie Fleming of Doylestown, Ohio; Robert E. of Miller,
S.D.; Lorenzo D. of Lincoln; Mrs. Hattie Adams of Laurel;
and Howard of Coleridge.
The beginning of Miss Morrison's sickness dates back
to June 21, 1923 when she had the misfortune to fracture
her right limb, and the illness of all the years since, has
been the result of that accident 15 years ago.
Miss Morrison lived a conscientious Christian life, being
a member of the Coleridge Presbyterian Church for many
years, and when it was merged into the Congregational
Church on Jan. 24, 1926, she and her mother were accept-
ed into fellowship with the charter members, by special ser-
vices at her bedside, by the pastor, the Rev. Dr. W. A. Tyler
of Lincoln. Miss Morrison also maintained membership in the
Rebekah lodge for about 25 years, and was an organzing
member of the Mary S. Lockwood Chapter, Daughters of the
American Revolution, at its inception on Nov.23, 1922.
Through her mother's ancestry, on the Conser lineage,
Miss Morrison inherited the distinction of coming from one of
the prominent families of the early history of the colony of
Pennsylvania, during the period of the Revolutionary War, for
they were proud of the association of the Conser family with
those of the David Robison, Governor Snyder and George
Washington.
( NOTE: Her National D.A.R.# is180,959. The
volutionary ancester is George Conser, PA.

Miss Morrison will always be remembered as an active
business woman of the Coleridge community, for she was
always interested in all enterprises for the betterment of hu-
manity.
Today, while she is with us only in memory, we shall miss
her, but we would not call her back, for she has been set free
and passed from the valley of the shadow, into the land that
knows no sorrow or suffering, no heartache, no death.
Funeral services for Miss Morrison were conducted on
Monday afternoon from the Morrison farm home and the
Coleridge Congregational church with the Rev. F.J. Tresid-
der, the pastor in charge. The sermon was preached by
the Rev. Merle Adams of Norfolk who was at one time a
pupil of Miss Morrison's when she taught school near her
parents home.
Interment was made in the family lots in the Norris cem-
etery east of Coleridge. An unusually large number of neigh-
bors and friends attended the services. Pallbearers were:
V. E. Rose, F. T. Miller, F. E. Poellot, J. D. Willey, Herman
Havekost, and Peter Hansen.
Among the relatives and friends from out of town present
at the last rites were R. E. Morrison from Lincoln,
