Jeannette A. Johnson, 89 years, formerly of Millstadt, IL, passed away on June 1, 2018, at Oak Hill Care Center, Waterloo, IL. She was born August 4, 1928, in Columbia, IL, daughter of the late Elmer W. and Manila, nee Muskopf, Koch. She was married to the late Roger J. Johnson. He had passed away May 10, 1985. Jeannette suffered from Alzheimer's Dementia for years.

Jeannette was a graduate of the Nurse Corps of WW II, graduating from Christian Welfare School of Nursing in 1949. After graduation she worked for the East Side Health District, and after she married Roger in 1949, she followed him to Texas and Louisiana. She returned to East St. Louis after services and worked in pediatrics, becoming the supervisor. In 1968 she began working at Memorial Hospital in Belleville where she stayed until retiring in 1993, retiring as a nursing administrator. Jeannette married Roger Johnson in 1949 and he died in 1985 after 36 years of marriage. Their only child Roger was born in 1954.

Jeannette loved to care for children, in addition she loved music and to dance. After her retirement she traveled and danced often with her special friend, Mike Salanak, until his death in 2008.

Jeannette is survived by her sister, Jackie (Ray) Aycock and her son Roger (Linda) Johnson Jr., her two grandsons, Jeremy (Erin) Johnson of Imperial, MO., and Justin (Jennifer) Johnson of Dayton, OH. In addition she has three step-grandchildren, Shelia (Larry) Jelks, Mike Wickham and Joseph Schlotmann. She is also survived by two great grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, June 8, 2018, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday June 9, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
