Holton - - - Walter Donald Hogan, age 86 of Holton, formerly of Chicago, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids following a short illness. Walt was born on August 10, 1931 in Holton to Edwin Francis and Gertrude (Smith) Hogan. Walter joined the United States Army after graduation and served during the Korean War. Walt met and married Anne Marie Fitzpatrick in 1961 in Chicago and Anne Marie preceded him in death on December 29, 1994. Walt had been a truck driver for Standard Oil in Chicago for several years until his retirement when he moved back to the Centennial Farm in Holton where he had raised cattle for many years. Walt was a member of the Ford Model A Club; enjoyed collecting tractors and antiques and was an avid toy car collector. Walt was a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Brunswick and a member of the Holton American Legion #397.

Walter is survived by his sister, Irene Olson of Homewood, Illinois; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Marie; his sister, Betty Rhoades; and his brothers, Robert, Albert and James Hogan.

VISITATION : Monday, June 4, 2018 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel 7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI 49412 and Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 10-11am at the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Brunswick.
