The Rev. Allan MacNeill was 76 years old when he died after a week's illness from pneumonia. He died at his home in Ridgefield Park, Bergen County, New Jersey, on the night of Wednesday, December 16, 1936. He was the pastor of the Union Community Church.
He founded the interdenominational institution in 1891 in Ridgefield Park that was the first Protestant church in the community. Besides publishing "The Union Herald", a bi-monthly church organ, he was the founder of five other interdenominational churches in New Jersey.
Active in Civil Affairs, he had been the borough's tax assessor for many years. He was the honorary chaplain of the Clan MacNeill Association of America, Disabled American Veterans of New York, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legions of Bergen County, and the Ridgefield Park Elks.
