Richard 'Dick' Eugene Bartlett, age 72, passed from this world on May 25, 2012. He and his wife, Elizabeth, have resided in Gig Harbor, Washington for 22+ plus years and previously to that in Lakewood, Washington. He died at his home surrounded by his wife, his sister, and several friends.
Richard was born on December 21, 1945 and was raised in St. Peter, Minnesota, son to Linden C. and Josephine C. Bartlett. Richard graduated from high school and immediately enlisted in the Army on 6/24/1865. H served two tours in Vietnam, one tour in Korea, and was also stationed in Germany. Richard attained the rank of MSG E8 and served his country honorably until retirement on April 1, 1987. Richard also worked for the US Postal Service Evergreen Station in Tacoma, Washington, for 17 years.
Richard had a passion for riding his Harley, working on his Trans Am and truck , walking in the woods, and just simply puttering around the house and yard. He also had a deep affection for all animals. He was a very private person, but also a very gracious person in his own way.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his sister, Linda Bartlett Boys (David); his step-children Michael (Kim), Gary and Karen; step grandchild Andrew, niece Katie Lyman and nephew Don Boys.
Services with military honors will be held at Tacoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
Richard is at peace now and has no more pain. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
