Jessica Roselind “Ronney” Steele, 90, of Bear Poplar, NC passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018, at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. She was born October 3, 1927, in Wake County, NC to the late Jesse Vann Holloman and Bessie Cowand Holloman. Mrs. Steele was a graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, NC and attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was studying and doing an internship as a social worker when she met her future husband, Robert Hall Steele. Mrs. Steele was a homemaker and worked in the family store, Steele Feed &Seed, Inc. with her husband. Later in life, Mrs. Steele and her husband traveled widely. Mrs. Steele was a member of Thyatira Presbyterian Church where she served as church organist for nearly 30 years, served as church treasurer and served as a Deacon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hall Steele on December 25, 2016. She is survived by her two sons, Robert Vann Steele (June) of Mocksville, NC, John Ridley Steele (Joyce) of Bear Poplar, NC, and daughter, Mary Margaret Steele of Wake Forest, NC, two grandchildren: Elizabeth Steele Patterson (Jared) of Tupelo, Mississippi, and Margaret Brooke Steele (Brandon) of Mocksville, NC, five great-grandchildren: Melanie Steele, Emily Patterson, Benjamin Patterson, LilyHope Patterson, and Samuel Patterson. Ronney is also survived by her four siblings: Richard Holloman of Hickory, NC, David Holloman (Keiko) of Raleigh, NC, Mary Margret Daughtridge of Greensboro, NC, Joe Holloman (Becky) of Rocky Mount, NC and several nieces and nephews. Visitation & Service: Visitation will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, May 9th at Thyatira Presbyterian Church, Millbridge, NC. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM in the Church Sanctuary led by Reverend Stacey Steck. The family would like to say a special thank you to the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House staff and other caregivers Mrs. Steele had for the last year. Memorials: Memorials may be made to Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House, 1229 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.
