She lived in California most of her life, working in the fields with her family and then becoming a cook at a restaurant, where she met her husband of 57 years, Ignacio. They moved to New Mexico 17 years ago.
In her earlier years, Frances loved to make crafts, which she gave away as gifts to family members. Her favorite thing was gardening and taking care of her flowers. She was also a great cook.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Ortega; her father, Vincent Garcia; step-father, Jose Moreno; and two brothers, Rudy and Salvador Moreno.
Frances is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Ignacio Jose Baca; step-son, Salomon J. Baca and his wife, Clara; eight step-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Luisa Aranda of Van Nuys, Calif., Jeanette Gutierrez of Canoga Park, Calif., Josie Amezcua and Carmen Fimbrez, both of Merced, Calif., and Alice Ochoa of Modesto, Calif.; two brothers, Ralph Ruiz of San Francisco, Calif., and Ignacio Moreno of Merced; sister-in-law, Soila Moya of Valencia; and many loving nieces and nephews.
All services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomé on Wednesday, April 18, beginning with a public viewing at 5:30 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Thursday, April 19, at 10 a.m. with a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Tomé Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wenses Daniel Baca, Wenses Junior Baca, Steven Chavez, Freddy Munoz, Adrian Serafin, Anthony Esquivel, Johnny Espinoza and Morris Vaisa.
