Memorial services for John Robert Pool, age 89, of Roanoke, will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with David Heard officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 PM on Saturday.

Mr. Pool passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Birdsong Pool of Roanoke, AL; two daughters, Susan Elaine Postles of Foley, AL and Sara Jean May of Valley, AL; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gloria Calhoun of Roanoke, AL and Louise Melton of Dacula, GA.

A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mr. Pool was born to Mansel and Martha Price Pool. He had worked for Handley Mills and Candlewick. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to one’s favorite charity.
