Vincent George Parker, 84, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in West New York, New Jersey, he lived there before moving to New Brunswick in 1953. He was a graduate of West New York High School and the Academy of Advanced Traffic in New York City. Mr. Parker was a transportation consultant and the owner of Shippers Transportation Services in New Brunswick where he worked for 30 years prior to his retirement. Prior to that, he worked for National Carloading Corporation in New York City for more than 25 years. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of New Brunswick, where he served as an elder. He served in the Merchant Marines and the Signal Corps of the United States Army in the Philippines during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Langenwalter Parker; three sons; a daughter; a brother, Harry "Buster" Parker and his wife Addie of West Long Branch; and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the First Reformed Church of New Brunswick, 9 Bayard Street, New Brunswick. Private cremation will follow. Friends and relatives may call at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick on Friday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
