CHARLES "CHUCK" RICKS CROWN POINT, IN - Charles "Chuck" Ricks, age 79 of Crown Point, formerly of Griffith passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014. He is survived by his children: Kathie (Doug) Price, Steven (Beth) Ricks, Nancy (Michael) Villars; grandchildren: Joshua (Holly) Price, Amber Price, Aaron (Emily Publicover) Ricks, Chelsea Ricks, Elliott (Jane Dennis) Ricks, Jennifer (Michael Grove) Villars, and Jayson Villars; five great grandchildren: Jack Shelhart, Kamryn Shelhart, Maddox Price, Sullivan Price, Aidan O'Keefe-Price, Ian Ricks and Bentley Ricks. Preceded in death by his parents: Earl and Della Ricks; wife: Sonnie; grandson: Cameron; half-sister: Marian Swinney and half- brother: Harry Ballenger. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. 45th Avenue, Griffith. Internment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home. Chuck was an Army veteran, a retired art teacher from Griffith High School for 32 years, one of the founding members of the Park Full of Art, golf coach at Griffith High School for 20 years, art department chairman for over 15 years, owner of Leather Unlimited since 1980 and an avid woodworker. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hospice of the Calumet Area are appreciated.
