Edwin Spencer Shaw II, 65, of Kailua Kona, Hawaii, formerly of South Bend, Ind., died on Tuesday, Sept. 14. Edwin was born on Oct. 14, 1933 in South Bend, the son of Gladys (Neilson) and Harold M. Shaw. He had been a resident of Hawaii for many years. He played basketball for and graduated from Central High School. He joined the U.S. Marines after graduation. He loved to play card games, especially all kinds of euchre. He was the Hawaiian champion horse shoe player (and doubles) several years in a row. His long time partner was Frank Beatty from Fort Wayne, Ind. He loved Hawaii and hosted a family reunion in 1979 for all his relations who could come. In 1973, he married Judith Borman Cline, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Lisa Shaw Moody of Waianoe, Hawaii and Diane Shaw of Honolulu; four sons, Michael of Gulfport, Miss., Edwin Spencer Shaw III of South Bend, Eric Shaw of Mesa, Ariz. and Brent Shaw of Kona, Hawaii; six grandchildren; four stepchildren; nine step-grandchildren; eight.sisters, Barbara Sellers-Burks of South Bend, Sally Lu Piba of Kona, Marilyn Sellers of South Bend, Patricia Wagner of Estero, Fla., Nancy Kealey of Warsaw, Ind., Helene Werner of Bremen, Phyllis Pearson and Eleanor Bogue, both of South Bend; and lots of cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Services will be in Kona on Saturday, Sept. 1 8. Cremation will follow.
