Arch Ward was a Chicago Tribune sports editor for 25 years. He headed the Chicago Tribune Charities, promoting the All-Star Baseball and Football games and the Silver Skates and the Golden Gloves. Ward was Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne's first pressagent. His funeral held up the annual All-Star baseball game in Milwaukee for 30 minutes to sports figures were to attend.
