MARGARET J. ODOM ATKINSON, 76, died peacefully in her home in Severn on May 31, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Johnson and Margaret Watson Johnson, her brother, Joel Johnson, her first husband, Kenneth Wayne Odom, Sr., and her second husband, Carlton D. Atkinson.
She was a graduate of Chowan College in Murfreesboro and had been a faithful member of Severn United Methodist Church where she had served as Church Treasurer for many years. Also, she worked at Severn Peanut Company for many years.
Mrs. Atkinson is survived by her sons, Kenneth W. Odom, Jr. (Missy) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Richard Watson Odom (E.B.), and Jason Johnson Odom (Carla) of Winton, NC; her grandchildren, Kenneth Wayne Odom, III, Susanna Lynn Odom, Richard Carter Odom, Emma Elizabeth Odom, Laynee Madison Odom, and Livia Hayes Odom. She is also survived by a brother Rufus Don Johnson, Jr, (Lynn), a nephew, Edward Scott Johnson, and a niece, Emily Susan Johnson.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Odom will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 2:30 P.M. in Severn United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Harrison presiding. Burial will follow in the Town of Severn Cemetery.
