Wilma Riley, 89, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018, surrounded with the love and support of her family.
Wilma was born on July 5, 1928 in Scottsville, Arkansas, to Patrick and Effie Mae Hughes. She grew up in Dover, Arkansas, and graduated from Dover High School. Wilma attended and worked at Arkansas Tech University, where she met John Riley, her husband of 58 years. Newly married, Wilma and John moved to Hurst in 1955.
While living in Hurst, Wilma developed many long-time friendships. She especially enjoyed her 54 years involvement with her neighborhood women’s group, IDKDY.
Since moving to Hurst, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was active in United Methodist Women, and volunteered at Mission Central.
Upon raising her three children, Wilma worked 21 years for the H.E.B. School District, where she retired in 1991.
During retirement, she enjoyed traveling and time with family, especially her beloved grandsons.
The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers at Keller Oaks Health Care, especially Claudia, Sherry, “Dr” Charles, Sylvia and Patrick, for the loving care you gave our mother and grandma.
