Donna Lee Arnold, age 71, of Janesville, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. The daughter of Joseph Vincent and Wanda Lee (Baker) Sorci, she was born on September 15, 1946 in Niagara Falls, New York. She graduated from Niagara University in 1968 with a degree in Secondary Social Studies Education. Donna met the love of her life, George Francis Arnold, when they were both first year teachers. They married in July of 1970 and together they raised their three children. She taught high school in Grand Island, New York and Prince George’s County, Maryland. Later she transitioned to a career to teach at-risk Pre-Kindergarten children in Monmouth, Illinois, a career that she immersed herself into with great passion and selflessness. Donna later retired early to volunteer for service at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family where her husband served as President for nine years. Recently Donna and George continued on their lifelong journey together of pursuing adventurous and exciting opportunities when Donna accompanied her husband during two one-year interim appointments at universities in Los Angeles and Chicago. Donna treasured her faith and family. She lived her faith on a daily basis in a very unassuming way. Donna was happiest when with family, whether hosting gatherings at home or traveling to visit her loved ones. She is survived by her husband; her 3 children, Matt (Carolyn), Andrew (Rhonda), and Mira (Matthew); seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren, as well as five brothers and sisters. Her parents predeceased her as well as her brother Mark Timothy who was killed in action during the Viet Nam War. Funeral services with a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Saint William Catholic Church, 456 N. Arch St., with Fr. David Baudry and Fr. Brian Dulli co-officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Whitcomb-Lynch Funeral Home.
