On Saturday, May 26, 2018, Dianal Dee Glasper—affectionately known as Dee, or Mama Dee—mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 55 after a hard fought battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer. Dee will be forever remembered by her children, Valyncia, Brodrick, Brasnick and Brandon Hill and their father Rodney Hill; grandchildren, Ilijah, Brodney II, Chanell, and Brodrick II Hill; fiancé Carolyn Cooper; and brothers and sisters, Amanda Hill, Abraham (Shinoba) Glasper, James (Lindia) Glasper, Dorothy (Jerry) Trusclair, Hattie (Clarence Sr.) Pryer, Carrie Baise, Brenda Glasper, and Elizabeth Hodges. Dee will also be remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends, and coworkers.
Dee is proceeded in death by her son Brodney Hill, her parents Hattie and Abraham Glasper, her sister Ruby Lane, and her brothers Walter and Linden Glasper.
Dee is a graduate of Livonia High School and the University of Phoenix. In February of 2018, Dee retired from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, as a Staff Services Manager I, after over 21 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling the world with her daughter Valyncia. Dee often reflected that there was nothing on her bucket list that she had not had the opportunity to check off. In addition to spending time with her loved ones and traveling the world, Dee also Waged Hope at PurpleStride® events as the face of “Team Mama Dee,” and was committed, along with her team, to bringing awareness to pancreatic cancer and raising important funds to help to increase the survival rates and to lessen the plight of those affected by pancreatic cancer.
Dee was encouraged to never ever give up. She fought with grace, strength and beauty to the very end. We pray that Mama Dee continues to serve as an inspiration to others afflicted by serious illnesses and/or life altering diseases and events.
