Gerald James Raymond Griffin, "Jerry", 80, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at The Mayo Clinic, St. Marys campus.

Jerry was born May 10, 1938 in Faribault, MN to John Joseph and Kathryn Blanche (McGuiness) Griffin. He was a graduate of Bethlehem Academy in Faribault.

On May 21, 1960, Jerry married Mary Ann Jirik.

Jerry worked for IBM, retiring after 34 years of service.

He was a member of Saint Pius X Catholic Church, where he was very active in church activities, Knights of Columbus and on the Board of Directors for the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association.

Jerry enjoyed fishing and took great pride in his yardwork. He had a passion for teaching the youth which was best demonstrated through 50+ years of umpiring.

His greatest love was spending time with his loving wife, children, grandkids and great-grandkids.

Jerry had a strong Christian faith, was a gracious, loving, kind man, a true gentleman.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at Saint Pius the X Catholic Church, 1315 12th Ave. NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
