Sherry Renee Helen Richards was 60 years old when she was called to heaven. Sherry was at her home when she passed on May 21, 2018.

Sherry was born in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to Edward and Clorann Butt on September 22, 1957. Sherry lived in Santa Maria, CA with her lifetime love William Richards and her son and daughter Jared and Farrin Richards.

Sherry lived in Lompoc, Duarte, and El Monte, CA prior to moving to Santa Maria, CA in 1980.

Sherry graduated from Duarte High School 1975. Sherry decided to pursue her love of helping people by majoring in medicine and nursing. She attended Allan Hancock College and obtained her A.A. and A.S. Degree in Nursing, she then went on to obtain her R.N license at Los Angeles Trade Tech. She began her career in nursing starting as a Nurse’s Aide, then LVN, and RN. She later attended Long Beach State and pursued her Bachelors in Nursing . Sherry worked hard and was promoted to the Director of Nursing at Marian Extended Care, where she worked at until her journey to heaven.

Sherry was on the Allan Hancock College Advisory Committee for Nursing.
Her love for the people she cared for was undeniable. She truly loved her work and every staff member she came in contact with, whether they worked with her or for her. Sherry was a die-hard advocate for her patients and staff. She believed in giving 150% of her time to whoever needed it.

Survivors include husband of 35 years, William Richards, Santa Maria, CA, daughter, Farrin Richards of Lancaster, CA, son, Jared Richards of San Diego, CA, Loving mother, Clorann Butt Sr., of Lompoc, CA, sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Joseph Jiles, of Santa Maria, CA sister, Teresa Butt from Las Vegas, NV, brothers, Edward Butt, Jr., and Thomas Butt and sister-in-law, Juanita Flagg of Lompoc, CA, sister and brother-in-law, Victoria and Eddie Ibarra from Chino Hills, CA , sister, Armida Jaime-Cather from Santa Maria, CA and sister, Evelyn Mayorga from Lompoc, CA. Nephews, Alexander Avery of Las Vegas, NV and his children, Nathan Avery and niece, Jessica Bangel, of Sacramento, CA, Chiquita Sperow, niece, of Las Vegas, NV and her children, Jolissa Jiles, of Long Beach, CA and Ayana Jiles of Santa Maria, CA, honorary son Kim Tan of Lancaster, CA and honorary daughter Naaea Dominguez of San Diego, CA and many other nieces and nephews. Sherry was preceded in death by her father Edward Butt Sr., Minister and retired Marine sister, Clorann Avery and her mother and father in-law( William and Barbara Richards.

Sherry also had a host of good friends that she cared for and they cared for her.

Viewing will be on Friday, June 1st at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary on 1003 E Stowell Rd, Santa Maria, CA 93454. Viewing for the public will be 5:00 p.m. -7:00 pm on Friday, June 1st

Memorial Services will be held at First Baptist Church at 1:00 pm., on Saturday, June 2, 2018, located at 2970 Santa Maria Way, Santa Maria, CA

Burial will be at Santa Maria Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018, located at 1501 S. College Dr, Santa Maria, CA
