BURNS ARE FATAL TO MRS. LEE LATTA

Mrs. Anna Latta 77, died at 6:30 A.M. today from burns sustained Feb 11th when a bottle gas stove flared up at her home a half mile West of Ottumwa on Blackhawk Road. She had been a patient at the hospital since that time and had expected to undergo skin grafting today. She had suffered burns over most of her body.

She was born September 16, 1885 in Rice County Kansas and was the daughter of Judson and Elizabeth Young. As a young woman she was a member and attended the Moulton Methodist Church.

Her husband Lee Latta survives. He received superficial burns on his hands when he went to his wife's rescue when her clothing caught fire.

Also surviving are a stepson Earl Latta of San Diego, Ca.; two stepdaughters; Mrs. Arch Burkhalter of Ottumwa and 3 step grandchildren. Seven brothers and 2 sisters preceeded her in death.

The service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Community Funeral Home. The Rev. David Ash; pastor of the Willard St. Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be William Allen, Alvin Kirfman, Linus Coyne, Gordon Riley, Ralph Bailey and Rex Daugherty.
