Norma Day King Dunn
Norma Day King Dunn passed away on May 23, 2018 with family members at her side. Norma was born on September 24, 1929 to Harmon Eastman Day and Phoebe McConnell in Cedar City, Utah. She grew up as the oldest daughter in a family of ten children on the Day dairy farm in Draper, Utah. Her character was shaped by hard work, frugal living, and close family relations. She attended BYU where she attracted the attention of Lewis Dale King. They fell in love and were married on March 17, 1949 in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple. They bought their first home on Fisher Lane in Salt Lake and there raised three sons. Norma served with devotion in LDS church callings and in the community. Getting to know people and visiting with neighbors, friends, and family was her lifelong love. She shared her experiences and provided wise counsel to all, especially her grandchildren. After almost fifty years of marriage, her husband Dale passed away in 1996. Norma eventually reconnected with a childhood acquaintance, Roy Dunn, to whom she was married on May 31, 2003. They lived happily in Midway, Utah. They relocated to Salt Lake in 2013. At that time, Norma's health was in decline following several strokes which ultimately lead to her passing. When asked what she would like to say to her posterity, without hesitation Norma bore a strong testimony of the Savior and His church. Norma is survived by her devoted husband Roy, by her sons Jerald Dale (Marjorie), Thomas David, and Clark Day (Sally), her eleven grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Monday, June 4th at the Mountain Point 4th Ward (14075 S 498 E, Draper, UT). Friends may come to a viewing from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, June 3rd at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary in Salt Lake City or at 11 am on Monday, June 4th prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Sandy Health and Rehab.
