Our beautiful loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother died peacefully at her home on Monday, May 28, 2018. She was 90 years old, born March 11, 1928, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Denham Springs. Phyllis was the beloved wife of the late Louis Hartman. She was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was involved in numerous ministries, especially the ministry of the Eucharist to the sick and homebound. She was an accomplished seamstress and an incredible cook, always baking and doing for others. Phyllis was a wonderful Christian example to all who knew her and was a devoted mother to her four daughters and son. She is survived by daughters Sheila Lay and husband Tom, Cindy DiVincenti, Debbie Van Nortwick and husband Wallace, Jan Benton and husband Jim; and son Jack Hartman and wife Emily. She treasured her eleven grandchildren, Allison Geraci and husband Daniel, Jessica Hague and husband Trevor, Angela Babin and husband Daniel, Hillary Green and husband Tyson, Joseph DiVincenti, Phyllis Brunt, Monica McGill and husband Jake, Anna Boykin and husband Chris, Hartman Brunt and wife Lyndsey, Matthew Hartman and Brian Benton; and her ten great-grandchildren, Abigail Geraci, Anna Geraci, Holden Hague, Walker Hague, Deckert Babin, Luke Boykin, Jackson Green, Finley Green, Abram Green and Katherine Green. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Jean Deckert and Andre' Deckert; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be forever missed by all. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Louis Hartman; father Albert Deckert Sr.; mother Antoinette Deckert; brothers Albert Deckert Jr., Warren Deckert and Joseph Deckert. Special thanks to the caregivers Rachel Caldwell, Nola Shafer, Dot Sibley and Audubon Hospice Nurse Kim Neck for their compassion and loving care. Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Hatchell Lane, Denham Springs on Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM celebrated by Father Frank Uter and Father Thomas Duhe'. Interment will be at Minton Cemetery, Walker South Road, Walker, LA. Pallbearers are Joseph DiVincenti, Hartman Brunt, Matthew Hartman, Brian Benton, Mark Deckert and Paul Deckert. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund, 865 Hatchell Lane, Denham Springs, LA 70726.
