She is survived by her husband Earl Wright of the home. Son Laine W. Wright (Katherine), grandchildren Lucas Wright and Kalen Kelly-Collins (Devin). Daughter Heather R. Wright (Tom Ruest), grand-daughter Emma Ruest. She is also survived by her brothers, Dennis (Lillian) and Brian (Jane) Phillips and sister in-law Patsy (Wade passed in 1991) Phillips.Deanne graduated from Abilene High School In1955 and was hired to work on the summer staff at Rock Springs State 4-H Center where she met Earl Wright, who would become her husband of 58 years. They were married August 21, 1959, at Rock Springs, the first couple to be married in the center’s chapel.
After the summer at Rock Springs, she received a scholarship from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS. Two years later she became a residence hall counselor at Gertrude Sellers Pearson and completed her degree in Radio, Television and Film from KU in May 1959. Other degrees earned by Deanne were a Master’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Kansas State University in December 1970. In 1974 she received her degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the College of Human Ecology at Kansas State University. These degrees were the foundation for her broadcast programs at Station KSAC/KKSU, a division of KSU’s Cooperative Extension Service. The Station programs covered most of Kansas and reached into four surrounding states. She retired from Kansas State University in 1995.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date in Council Grove, Kansas.
