Ada Blanch (Householder) Shaeffer, 85, of Kittanning, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died on Monday, May 28, 2018, at Margaret Manor. She was born March 16, 1933, and lived in Kittanning. Ada was born in Templeton to Mabel Pearl (Miller) Householder and Harry Householder. She lived in Templeton until she met and married her lifelong loving husband, Michael, of 69 wonderful years. Ada was more than a housewife. She worked at her sister’s (Pat Staley) motel and Kiddieland Park running the refreshments stand. She bowled on Monday and Saturday night leagues at Falcon Lanes for over 34 years. Ada enjoyed sewing, crocheting, flea-markets, making Easter candy, for which she was famous for her hard tack candy, and playing cards. Her favorite passion was baking and cooking, which her family and friends all enjoyed. She was especially famous for her homemade pies, Christmas cookies, and her gigantic filled cookies which were all loved at the Kittanning Township Firehall flea market. Ada is survived by her loving husband, Michael R. Shaeffer Sr.; sons, Harry John Shaeffer, Michael Rodney Shaeffer Jr. (Brenda); sisters, Pat Staley and Harriet Slagle; brother, Harry Ray Householder (Helen); 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Joanne Townsend and Myra Altmeyer; and one brother, Jim Householder. Upon Ada’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Arrangements are entrusted to the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
