Mary “Mae” Nichols Hanners, 97, of Hixson, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.
She was born in Hale County, Al., and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. “Mae” retired from Standard Coosa Thatcher and was of the Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Hanners; son, Charles Hanners; and six siblings.
“Mae” is survived by her children, Johnny Hanners and Barbara Ploger; grandson, Scott (Cheryl) Ploeger; great grandsons, Briggs (Elizabeth) Ploeger and Stratton (Kaitlyn) Rhoden; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Funeral services for “Mae” will follow at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the North Chapel with Reverend Steve Vernon officiating. Burial will be at Hamilton County Memorial Park.
