Mrs. Dorothy Mae Simpson Dixon, 79, passed away Friday morning (December 11, 2020) at her daughter’s residence in Waycross following an extended illness.
She was born on Cumberland Island to the late Arthur Simpson and Jane Swanwick Simpson. She was a homemaker most of her life and a member of New Life Church in Blackshear.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Franklin Dixon; and a son, Nathan Dixon.
She is survived by her daughter, Eugenia Dixon of Waycross; a son, Bruce Dixon of Sebastian, FL; daughter-in-law, Mamie Dixon of Blackshear; five grandchildren, Whitney Dixon, Sierra Dixon, Bruce Dixon, Jr., Eric Dickerson (Ashley), and Justin Dickerson (Briana); nine great grandchildren, Jordan Neese, Karma Neese, Kaylee Buckles, Bruce Dixon, III, Mackenzie Dickerson, Justin “Little J” Dickerson, Jr.; Journie Zagroski; Jackson McCullough, and Jude McCullough; four sisters, Laurie McDonald of St. Marys, GA, Mary Salzer (Steve) of St. Marys, GA, Betty Taylor of Patterson, and Liz Jeffers of Patterson; two brothers, Arthur Simpson (Joann) of Rhode Island and James Simpson (Linda) of Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday (December 14, 2020) at New Life Church in Blackshear. Entombment will be held at Greenlawn Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her honor to GHC Hospice, 1908 Tebeau St. Waycross, GA 31501.
Members of the Joy Seekers Sunday School Class at New Life Church are asked to meet at the church by 1:40 p.m. on Monday to serve as honorary pallbearers.
