Eva (Bennett) Gordon 87 of Plattsburg Missouri died Sunday May 27, 2018 at a St Joseph Mo., Hospital. Born on May 17, 1931 in Grayson Mo., to Daniel Clayton and Catherine (Mitchell) Bennett. She grew up and attended school in Plattsburg.
On July 12, 1952 she was united in marriage to James Ellis “Junior” Gordon in Bentonville Arkansas. She was a homemaker and was employed at Ellis Elementary School in Plattsburg for several years as a cook.
Eva was a longtime member of the South Clinton Club; Plattsburg PTA and the Booster Club; and a former member of the Women’s International Bowling Conference. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church Plattsburg. She served many years as a room mother for her four daughters. In later years her favorite hobby was playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2008, infant daughter Trella Catherine Gordon; 3 brothers Melvin, J.C. and John Bennett; a half sister Norma Bennett and infant great grand son Jacob Thomas “Jake” Eads.
Survivors include four daughters Joanne Gordon and Donna (Darrell) Kennedy both of Plattsburg; Barbara (Mike) Cantrell of Lee’s Summit MO., and Tracy (Jimmy) Shoate of Sugar Creek Mo. Three grandsons Tommy (Terry) Eads and Brandon (Sarah) Kennedy both of Plattsburg MO; Justin Kennedy of Platte City MO., Three granddaughters Shyla Smith of Lee’s Summit MO., Emily Bolinger of Maysville Mo, and Kathryn Brookshier of Gallatin MO., and 17 great grandchildren.
Healing farewell service will be held 2:00PM Friday June 1, 2018 at the Bailey & Cox Family Funeral Service Plattsburg. Interment will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery Plattsburg MO.
