Anita Ruth Wilson, 69, of Springfield, Ill., formerly of Brazil, Ind., died at 11:32 a.m. Monday, May 28, 2018, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born March 17, 1949, in Brazil, the daughter of Stanley Albert and Phyllis Evans Eldridge. She married Leo Gene Wilson in Lafayette, in 1981. They later divorced.
Anita was a 1967 graduate of Van Buren High School in Brazil, where she graduated valedictorian. She was a member of Job's Daughters Bethel 121 and the National Honor Society. She attended Indiana State University and transferred to Purdue University from 1968-1971. While at Purdue she was involved with Krazy 8's Square Dance Club. She was a member of Carbon Baptist Church in Carbon. She had worked in customer service for Columbia House Records and Kroger. Anita loved reading, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed staying up-to-date with politics and current issues.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Stanley Richard Eldridge.
She is survived by her daughter, Sara Roberson of Springfield; son, Christopher (Alisha) Wilson of Staunton; stepson, Todd (Sue) Wilson of Lexington; stepdaughter, Heather (Michael) Heihn of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren, Isaac, Gracelyn, Amelia, Jacob, William, Hailey, Amber, Shelby, Mathew, Emily and Rebecca; three great-grandchildren, Levi, Nova, and Maverick; sister, Maxine (Jeff) Miller of Pennsylvania; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Amanda (Zach) Barba and Matthew (Tessa) Miller.
Cremation will be accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society. The family will host a memorial ceremony on Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 1 until 4 p.m. at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil. Services will be at the funeral home Sunday, at 4 p.m. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery in Brazil.
