NILES - Cecil Roberts was born in Niles, Michigan on December 30, 1934. Cecil, the youngest of eleven children born to William and Abbie Roberts, was a resident of Niles, Michigan for nearly all his life. At 16 years of age, Cecil left school and began working to help support his family. He later obtained his GED to complete his formal education. Cars and motorcycles were a big passion of his. His greatest passion however, was his beautiful wife of 63 years. On November 20, 1954 Cecil married Mildred Louise Watson. Mildred accompanied him to Germany while he served his country in the United States Army. Cecil and Mildred returned from Germany briefly to Niles and then moved to Marcellus, Michigan, where he was an active member of the community. Cecil volunteered on the Marcellus fire department and served as Past Master of the Saint Joseph Valley Masonic Lodge #4, F. & A.M. Cecil worked many jobs; however, it was his work with his brother Paul as a plumber that eventually led to a lifelong career choice. Cecil and Mildred expressed their love of one another with the birth of their two children, Scott and Debra. In 1965 they moved to Niles, Michigan where Cecil worked for Gano Plumbing. In September of 1969, Cecil and Mildred started Roberts Service Plumbing and Heating Company. Working side by side, they grew their business from the humble confines of their garage and basement to eventually be housed in a 22,000 square foot building. Retiring in 1997, Cecil and Mildred enjoyed travel to warmer climates. It wasn't long and they traded the cold Michigan winters for a home in Bullhead City, Arizona. They enjoyed socializing with many good friends there. Cecil enjoyed golfing with his friends when he wasn't helping someone in their new community. In June of 2013, Cecil suffered a debilitating stroke. While his body may have slowed him physically, his mind never stopped. He was constantly trying to figure out the best way he could help someone in need. He was a resident of Westwood of Niles where he was loved by many of the staff. On the morning of May 29, 2018, Cecil peacefully passed while in the company of his family; he will be dearly missed.

Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, William and Abbie; siblings, Bernice Searles, Bernard Roberts, Gladys Brown, Marie Tokarski, Jack Roberts, Paul Roberts, Sally Thomas, Margaret Shield, and Harry Roberts.

He survived by his wife of over 63 years, Millie Roberts of Niles; son, Scott (Tracey) Roberts of Cedar Park, Texas; daughter, Debra Lindzy of Wilmington, Illinois; grandchildren, Jordan Roberts and Devyn Roberts along with a loving family of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Jasper of Niles.
