OBITUARY: W. L. Burns, Jr. Dies; Funeral Tomorrow.
Ithaca -- Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow for William L. Burns, Jr., 48, known to many Ithacans as Larry, who died Tuesday night at the family home, 406 W. Green St. A service will be conducted at 8:15 A.M. at the Herson Funeral Home, 110 S. Geneva St., and at 9 A.M. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Burial will be in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery.
Born in Ithaca, he was graduated from Ithaca High School in 1917, and for a number of years was associated with his father in the bakery business. In more recent years, he has been manager of a local service station. He was a member of Cayuga Hose Company 1 and served for 12 years as company secretary.
His father, W.L. Burns, Sr.; a brother, Albert T. Burns, and three sisters, Mrs. Charles E. Gooding of Oswego, Mrs. Lawrence Woernley of Locke, and Mrs. Raymond LaFarr of Hudson Falls, survive. [Source: Syracuse (NY) Herald-Journal, Saturday, March 14, 1946]
