Ben was born in Charleston to the late Hugh F. and Bernice Price Martin. He was head mechanic at Colonial Exxon on Bridge Road for 40 years. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Marine Corps League Detachment 947.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jo Martin; son, Steven D. Martin; brothers, Lewis Martin, Hugh F. Martin Jr., and David Martin; sisters, Jean Carr, Linda Cooper and Patricia Davidson.
Ben is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Mark) Vickers; son, Tom (Beth) Martin; grandchildren, Christopher Vickers, Jessica Martin, Steven Martin, Brooke Martin, and Andrew Martin; great grandchild, Josie Vickers; brothers, James Martin, George Martin, Paul Martin, Richard Martin, John Martin, and Daniel Martin; sisters, Mollie Ellis, Pam Clements, Connie Lategano, June Martin and Mary Berry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. May 3 at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston. A private military service will be held at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar, WV.
