Deceased Name: Alice E. Conlon
Alice E. “Betty” Conlon, 87, a lifelong resident of Park Ridge. Beloved sister of Thomas F. and Florence Conlon Novak, and the late Helen M. and Edward J. Conlon Jr. Dear Aunt of 17, and Great-Aunt of 23. After graduating from Rosary College (now Dominican University), she became a teacher in the Chicago Public Schools, mostly at Von Steuben High School where she was a Spanish instructor, retiring in 1989. Funeral Friday, September 5, 10:30am from Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, 120 S. Northwest Highway (2 blocks south of Touhy), Park Ridge, to St. Paul of the Cross Church Mass 11am. Internment Calvary Cemetary in Evanston (Lot 13, Block 28, Section Y). Visitation Friday 9am until time of services.

Attended St. Paul of the Cross Grammer school.
Attended St. Scholastica High School (in Rogers Park - 2 yrs). 1935-1937
Graduated Maine Township (now Maine East) High School. 1937-1939
attended Rosary College (Dominican University) in River Forest, IL 1939-1943
and Loyola University for M. A. degree (1959).
looked at various companies and briefly worked for Abbot Labs,
but started teaching Spanish in 1961 at various Chicago high schools, mostly Von Steuben HS
never married, no children
Retired from Teaching in 1989.

Lived at 200 W. Sibley St., Park Ridge, IL 60068 since built in 1923 until 2004 (81 years). Resided at The Heritage in Desplaines from 2004-2005, then the Nazarethville Nursing Home from 2005 until her death in 2008.

Her favorite hobby was traveling, and she spent many summers in Spain and Portugal from 1951 to 1988. Her summers always included time in northern Wisconsin at the family's summer cottage in Three Lakes.

She was the aunt of 17 nieces and nephews, and 23 Grand-nieces and nephews throughout the United States.

Some of her favorite phrases:
(to a slow waitress) "Spring into action, sister!"
(pretend cursing in a Spanish accent) "Sac-ra-men-to Cali-for-nia"

Betty died at 87, but would never let anyone call her "elderley" !
