September 18, 1944 ~ October 8, 2016

Grant Harris, 72, of Angleton, Texas passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016. He was born in Freeport, Texas on September 18, 1944 to William Ray and Jodie Viola Harris.

Grant spent time in Germany during his tour of duty in the U.S. Army. He retired from TDC after 35 years where he was known by most as “Walking Thunder”. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and ranching as well as sports like football and baseball. Grant liked to barbecue and anything to do with Hawaii. He loved his family more than anything though even when he was threatening him with his favorite line, “Boy, I’m gonna take this leg off and beat your butt with it!”

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lena Harris, and his son Jimmy Brooks.

Left to cherish Grant’s memory is his girlfriend Nancy Bourne; sons William Harris and wife Kellie and Greg Brooks and girlfriend Stella Means; daughters Loretta Brooks Hernandez and husband Domingo; grandchildren Greg Brooks, Jr., Christopher Brooks, Joshua Brooks, Donald Brooks, Jimmy Brooks, Travis Brooks, Tyler Brooks, Sarah Mackenzie Harris, and William (Bubbie) Craig Harris; great grandchildren Abbie Marie Brooks, Cheyenne Renee Brooks, Tinsley Brooks, Cody Bryce Brooks, Lindsey Ann Brooks; along with his sister Aunt Sister JoLynn Harris.

A public visitation will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home. “Aloha Oe”.
