Memorial services will be Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney. Rev. Robert Perry will officiate. There will be no visitation.
David was born September 10, 1955 in Kearney to Keith and Delores (Muller) Swift. He grew up in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School in 1973. He then attended Kearney State College and Hastings College.
He was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the U.S. Navy from 1974 – 1978. On February 7, 1976 he married Patti House in Kearney. After his service, he returned to Kearney and owned and operated Interstate Underground Sprinklers until the mid-1980’s then worked at Builders Warehouse for 20 years, spending the last few years working maintenance at the Holiday Inn.
David had a lifelong love for all types of music. He was always up for an adventure, traveling with his family and friends to see live music all over the country. Most of all, he enjoyed the simple things in life; spending time with his best friend and wife of 42 years, barbequing and watching his kids and grandkids grow in the home and life he had built for them.
Surviving relatives include his wife Patti of Kearney; daughter, Shannon Kramer and husband Jamie of Kearney; son, Evan Swift of Omaha; grandchildren, Dylan, Gavin and Charlie Kramer of Kearney; brothers, Patrick Swift and wife Kathy of Kearney and Tom Swift of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Connie Hendrickson and husband Kevin of Denver, CO; many cherished brother and sister-in-laws, aunts and uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and lifelong friends.
