Marion Alan Rogers, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 9, 2018; surrounded by his family, at his home in The Woodlands, Texas. Alan was born on November 4, 1936, in Columbus, Indiana, to Oliver and Emma Rogers. He graduated from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. He then continued graduate studies at the University of Minnesota, getting a M.S. in Geology and Geophysics, and a Ph.D. in Geology and Geochemistry in 1965. He enjoyed working for Exxon, Primary Fuels and IHRDC. Just shy of his eightieth birthday, Alan retired from IPA where he'd found working in both the U.S. and U.K. extremely rewarding. He married Connie Liles Buchanan on July 31, 1982 in Conroe, Texas. They had one son, Edward, which increased the family to six. Alan treasured his moments as a grandfather and great grandfather above all else. He lavished his time and attention on his grandchildren and great grandson, who dearly loved him. Alan is preceded in death by his parents, and his youngest son, Edward Anthony Rogers. He is survived by his wife, Connie; sister, Barbara Strong and husband, Ernie; brother, Curt Rogers and wife, Carol; son, Jonathan Rogers and wife, Bao Qin; daughter, Corinna Rogers; son, Colin Rogers and wife, Alma; daughter Arwen Jackson and husband, Will; and daughter, Christy Christiansen and husband, Matthew. He also left behind 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Services were held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Trinity Episcopal Church in The Woodlands. Alan was buried near his son, Edward, at Forest Park Cemetery, in Shenandoah, Texas. The family requests that any donations be made in his name to the following: Trinity Episcopal Church The American Red Cross The Boy Scouts of America The Luekemia/Lymphomia Society
