Floyd Bieniek died the evening of December 18, 2003.

Floyd Bieniek was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He joined the Army Air Corps and was trained as an aerial gunner. He served as a nose gunner on a B-24 heavy bomber and participated in 36 combat missions over Germany, with the 446th Bomb Group, 2nd Air Division of the 8th Air Force. After the war, he enlisted for a 3 year hitch. He married Geraldine Kenyon and settled in in 1948. He joined the Naval Reserve and was called to active for the Korean War. He served on board the Aircraft carrier, LSS Philippine Sea. He came back to Corpus Christi and joined the Corpus Christi Police Department and served 25 years. He joined the Constables office of Precinct 1 and served for 2 years and tried unsuccessfully to run for Constable of Precinct 1. Floyd was very active with the Boy Scouts serving as Scoutmaster and as an instructor for Boy Scout Leaders. He was a charter member of the Corpus Christi Yokuska, Japan sister city committee and served as president for two years and represented our city in Washington, D.C. He was an active member of the Corpus Christi Coin Club and served three years as president of the club.

He was the founder of the Polish Organization of South Texas and was instrumental in bringing the Polish American Congress Convention to our city on three different occasions. The group also participated in BayFest for several years. He was an active member of the America Legion until his health deteriorated. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and served as usher for many years and assisted in many church activities.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his first wife Geraldine and his two brothers Richard and Norbert and his sister, Barbara Louden.

He is survived by his wife Harriet; sons, of Houston, Texas, of St. Louis, Missouri, of Corpus Christi, of San Diego, California, of Dallas, Texas and of Corpus Christi, Texas; stepson, Foreman , nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2003 with a Rosary at St. Theresa's Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2003 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
