Funeral services for Pearleen Garner will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Alexandria, Louisiana with Reverend Greg Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, and from 9 a.m. until shortly before the time of services on Thursday in the funeral home.

Mrs. Garner, 86, of Alexandria, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, in Lexington House, Alexandria. She managed the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Alexandria during her working life. She worshipped at the Salvation Army in Alexandria. She never met a stranger. She would take in anyone for meals or a place to sleep. She was a loving mother and grandmother to all.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her children, Karen Sue Hall (Danny) of Bastrop, Louisiana, Virginia "Ginny" Rominger (Robert Butler) of Alexandria, Louisiana, Margo Johnson (Rick Trichel) of Hebert, Louisiana, Amanda Silmon (Tony) of Collinston, Louisiana, and Ronnie Laurent (Joy) of Montgomery, Louisiana; foster children, Brenda Odom and Mike Odom; and special friend, James "Mr. J." Zank; 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Garner; children, Loyd Garner Jr., Geral "Boo" Garner, William "Bill" Garner, and Remona Blood; her parents, Frank and Appie Parker Lawrence; two brothers; three sisters; and four grandchildren, Miranda Johnson, Kerry Sue DeSoto, Nathan Garner, and Colby Silmon.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Kevin Nelson, Raymond "Cooter" DeSoto, Jr., Robert Jackson, Jathan "Buddy" Garner, Steven Setliff, and Dustin Silmon.

Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons Jathan Johnson, Logan Bordelon, Trevor Garner, Dalton Phillips, Lane Hamberlin, Jarred DeSoto, Landon Delatte, Lester Blood Jr., and Randy Blood.

The family would like to invite everyone to celebrate her life over food and fellowship following services on Thursday at AmVets Post 7, located at 3409 England Drive, Alexandria.
