Marguerite Brown, 97, of Keller passed away May 27, 2018 in Grapevine. She was born December 26, 1920 in Whitney, to Joseph “Tack” and Rovena (Gant) Petty.

She grew up in Prairie Valley and attended school in Towash and Prairie Valley. On February 15, 1941 she married Coy Brown. For over 30 years she worked for the Lullaby shop in Arlington as a seamstress making baby clothes. She loved sewing special dresses for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sewed her last princess dress for her great-granddaughter, Marguerite, at age 89. Making and giving quilts as gifts for graduation and other special occasions was something she loved to do as well. She was member of Triangle Park Baptist Church in Whitney.

She loved to cook and making the family their favorite desserts which included cobblers, pies and cakes was something she enjoyed. Playing 42 and dominoes were favorite pastimes and she and her husband always had a big vegetable garden when they lived in Whitney.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Coy Brooks Brown on May 7, 2001; a daughter, Betty Donlin and her husband, Johnny Donlin and two brothers, Calvin Petty and Kenneth Petty.

Survivors include her children, Jerry and Sandra, grand children, great-grand children and sisters, Mary Ruth McKennon and Mae Ladean McIlveene and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held May 31, 2018. Burial will follow at Vaughan Cemetery in Vaughan.
