Margie L. Smith Meeks, 73, of Jacksonville, Florida died Sunday morning (May 27, 2018) at St. Vincent’s Southside Center in Jacksonville after an extended illness.

Mrs. Meeks was born in Waycross to the late Charles and Mamie Mercer Smith but had made Jacksonville her home for the past 50 years.

She was the cafeteria manager at University Christian School and a member of University Baptist in Jacksonville. Mrs. Meeks was a family woman, she loved her children and grandchildren and all the time she spent with them. She enjoyed singing and fishing especially when the fish were biting.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Eugene Smith.

Mrs. Meeks is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jimmie Meeks of Jacksonville, Florida;

A funeral service will be held Saturday (June 2, 2018) at 10:00am in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel following burial to Kettle Creek Cemetery at 11 am for grave side service with the Rev. Wayne Dinsbeer and the Rev. Tim Williams and the Rev. David Meeks officiating her service.

Pallbearers will be Levi Boals, Lane Boals, Jordan Scheider, Timmy Smith, Loran McDaniel, Royce Odam, Luke Williams, Tony Smith and Joshua Corbitt ..

Honorary pallbearers will be Macy Meeks, Hunter Meeks and Chuck Smith ..

Miles-Odum Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
