Mrs. U. G. Lovejoy, 94, early pioneer of Lamkin Community, died in Houston, Saturday, February 15th.
Born Minnie Ewell March 28th, 1875, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Ewell, who resided near Toliver Cemetery. Graveside services will be held in the
Toliver Cemetery Tuesday, February 18th at 10 a.m. with Rev. Ernest DeWald officiating.
Mrs. Lovejoy was the grand-daughter of J. H. Neel, one of the seven first families to arrive here in 1852, four years before Comanche County was created. She joined the Methodist Church at Fairview when a small girl. She was married to U. G. Lovejoy, a school teacher at Fairview. One son, John Ewell Lovejoy survives. Her sister, Mrs. Frances Barrow of New Mexico phoned Sunday that she would be unable to attend the services due to a heavy snow storm.
