Actor. Began his career as a stage actor Off-Broadway in New York City. Worked in television, guest-starring on such shows as "Marcus Welby, M.D." and "The Streets of San Francisco." He gave an impressive performance in "Sybil" (1976) (TV) and had a role in the epic ABC miniseries "Roots" (1977). His big break and his most famous role came in Alan Parker's "Midnight Express" (1978). He played a young American named Billy Hayes who was imprisoned in Turkey for drug smuggling. Davis was praised by film critics for his performance and won a Golden Globe Award. Other notable roles include: "Chariots of Fire" (1981), "Querelle" (1982), "Chiefs" (1983) (miniseries), "Robert Kennedy & His Times" (1985) (miniseries), "Cold Steel" (1987), "Heart" (1987), "The Caine Mutiny Court Martial" (1988) (TV), "Rosalie Goes Shopping" (1989) and "The Player" (1992). Davis even played the lead role in Larry Kramer's Off-Broadway play, "The Normal Heart" (1985). Brad Davis was diagnosed with HIV in 1985 and but kept his diagnosis private until shortly before his death in 1991.
