Douglas Deane Meyer, 80, of Humboldt, died on Friday, May 25, 2018, at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday, at the church.

Doug was born on December 16, 1937, in Sioux Falls, to Wilmer and Marie (Dubbe) Meyer. He grew up near Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1956. After high school he served in the United States Air Force for four years. He was honorably discharged in 1962. After his discharge, he farmed in the Humboldt area and raised eight children on his farm. He was especially proud of his black percherons, Barney and Rowdy. He married Connie Mulder in December 1980.

Doug was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt and the Humboldt American Legion. He also served on many boards in the area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife Connie, Humboldt; children: Jason Meyer, Sioux Falls, Terry (Shawn) Meyer, Cincinnati, Ohio, Ronda (Kent) Huizenga, Brandon, Bill (Kim) Henning, Hartford, Daryl (Audrey) Henning, Humboldt, Travis (Angie) Henning, Sioux Falls, Marsha (Brandon) Myers, Sioux Falls, and Margie Meyer, Sioux Falls; 41 grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers: Larry (Dottie) Meyer, Sioux Falls, and Merlyn (Joyce) Meyer, Salem; step-siblings Charles (Linda) Lueth, Humboldt, LeRoy (Connie) Lueth, Hartford, and Carolyn Anderson, Hartford; brother-in-law, Larry Flannery, Chancellor; and a step-sister-in-law, Marlys Lueth, Humboldt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Morton Lueth; sisters, Sherry Meyer, and Linda Flannery; and a step-brother, Dale Lueth.
