Lois Neely Sammons Sullivan of Canyon Lake, TX passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018 in New Braunfels, TX at the age of 92. She was born on May 24, 1925 in Murray, KY to John Thomas Sammons and Margaret Lois (Ross) Sammons.
She was raised in Murray, KY, and graduated from Murray High School in 1944.
She attended Murray State University. Lois then began a career as a telephone operator in Murray, Kentucky.
She married Charles Edward Sullivan in November of 1968 in Clear Lake City, TX.
Lois and her husband, Charlie, moved to the Lake Texoma area near Madill, Oklahoma in the summer of 1972 to begin their lives as real estate developers. Charlie left a successful career as a true Rocket Scientist in the Nasa/ Space Center program to start his own business, and Lois was there every step of the way. Gone was the corporate stress, they believed in themselves and had a wonderful life building their business, adding new businesses. They were very successful in land development and also started several other companies including Engineering, Surveying and eventually their own water company. Charlie and Lois worked side by side for over 35 years to make their dreams come true. Charlie was the catalyst for many of their endeavors, and Lois was the business manager. Lois kept all the accounts billed, deposits made and the anchor to the businesses they created.
Lois and Charlie loved to dance, loved to party. They had a date night almost every evening. If there was a “Dancing With The Stars” version for Durant, OK; I believe they would have won the trophy. They loved to dance to old Rock ‘N Roll and the Jitterbug was their favorite dance. They made their own way and had a blast.
Lois was a beautiful woman, inside and out. The epitome of grace and generosity. One of the family friends, and Lois’s new friend, Micci Carter, described her as The BEAUTIFUL Lois Sulllivan…with the face of an angel and a Heart as Big as Texas. She was patient, trusting and riding the waves with the love of her life for nearly 49 years.
Lois loved to shop, decorate her lovely home and was a great friend to all that knew her. She and Charlie spent many great evenings at the Elks Lodge, enjoying hanging out with their many friends. Most of all, she and Charlie built their dreams together and had a wonderful life. You can’t ask for much more than that.

Grandchildren Justin Davis and his wife, Irisa, of Austin, TX, Cristin Dugan and husband Michael, of Medford, OR. Kevin Sullivan of Canyon Lake, TX and great grandchildren, Landry Sullivan, Cambry Sullivan, Jolea Dugan; Sister, Saralee Vaughn of Franklin, TN and many nieces and nephews, along with many other family members and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Charles Edward Sullivan; brothers, Thomas Sammons, John Irby Sammons, Gene Paul Sammons; sisters, Hazel Crenshaw, Rachael Winograd, and Nancy Ann Girardot, and great granddaughter, Tinsley Sullivan.
Services will be held at 4 pm, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Services Chapel in Durant. Interment will follow at Bokchito Cemetery with son, Charlie Sullivan, grandson, Kevin Sullivan, brother in law John Sullivan, friend, Mark Trekle and nephew, Bradley Sullivan as pallbearers.
