L.T. Stinnett, 84, of Rock Island, died April 17, 2007, at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2007, at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery Rock Island Arsenal with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to the church.
L.T. was born July 29, 1922, in Cooter, Mo., to Wade and Maudie (Fuller) Stinnett. He married Anna Lovell in 1941 in Blytheville, Ark.
L.T. served in the U.S. Army for 22 years, retiring on April 1, 1966. While serving his country he received many decorations and awards including, the Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters, the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge with two stars and the Good Conduct Medal along with numerous Letters of Commendation. After retiring from the Army he became a technical writer at the Rock Island Arsenal for 11 years.
L.T. was a member of the Masonic Lodge Trio #57, Rock Island, Davenport KAABA Temple, a life member of the Disabled Veterans Chapter 9, Rock Island, and the Moline American Legion Post #246.
He is survived by wife, Anna Stinnett, Rock Island; daughters, Bibiane (Glenn) Wittge, Kerrville, Texas, and Linda (Dan) Weatherly, Milan; grandchildren, Lynn Jackson, Chris George, Tanya Gonzales, and Renee Coleman; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mary (Clifford) Jones, Lyons, Ga., and Douglas (Opal) Stinnett, Moore, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Chester and Edward, and his sister, Bonnie.
